In late October 2022 Marie Harrington married her childhood sweetheart Ben O’Sullivan in a beautiful ceremony that took place in St. Patrick's Church, Kilgarvan in front of 200 guests, followed by a fabulous reception at The Rose Hotel, Tralee Co. Kerry.
The Backstory
Marie and Ben met while attending secondary school in Kenmare and have been going strong ever since. What began as innocent conversations in class soon blossomed into a beautiful long-term relationship. On a weekend away at Adare Manor in early 2020 Ben proposed to his childhood sweetheart and wedding planning was in full swing.
On October 29, 2022, 10-month-old pageboy Cathal rolled up the aisle in style in a battery powered classic car decorated with bows and ornaments. Moments later Marie made her way up the aisle to the song “In a Country Churchyard” by Chris de Burgh. In a surprise turn of events Marie momentarily left her husband at the top of the altar and headed to the back of the church to sing a heartfelt rendition of “The Voyage” by Christy Moore. This song holds a profound place in the hearts of Marie and her family as it was the song her sister and her husband played for their first dance at their own wedding back in 2006. Sadly, both had passed away, but the bride’s performance of the Christy Moore tune acknowledged that they were present in the hearts of all family and friends on the day.
After a beautiful ceremony, it was over to Tralee to the Rose Hotel for the most amazing wedding reception. They also celebrated pageboy Andrew’s 9th birthday with a cake.
How was your experience at the Rose Hotel?
“Once we got engaged and the hunt began for hotels, we had gone to see a few hotels that were all beautiful, but The Rose Hotel just had everything we wished for. It was such a welcoming hotel from the staff to the setting the decor it was just all we wanted. We had a lot of trips over during the planning of our big day. The staff were so helpful, and this just made all the planning stress free. The meal & service on the day was spectacular.”
