Ballygarry Estate Hotel, Co. Kerry

The story of Julie McGrath from Ardfert, Kerry and Andrew Dollard from Portlaoise is one of true love grabbed back at a second chance. The couple first met at a friend’s house party when Julie was only 15 years old. Andrew was 19. The instant attraction was apparent when Andrew walked in ‘full of devilment, so handsome and confident,’ said Julie. The pair were drawn to each other immediately. They spent the night chatting and listening to music, an exciting connection from the get-go. In the months that followed they continued a long-distance relationship, with Julie travelling to Laois to see Andrew whenever possible.

Limerick Strand Hotel, Limerick

On Sunday December 2, 2018, Debbie and Sean arrived home as usual. Debbie had planned to chill on the sofa for the evening but wanted to get some housework done first, so asked Sean to go upstairs and get the washing basket. Upon his return he told her to close her eyes, saying that he had a surprise for her. Expecting chocolates or something small, Debbie couldn’t have been more surprised when she opened her eyes to see Sean down on one knee with ‘the most beautiful ring in his hand’.

Hotel Woodstock, Ennis, Co. Clare

Síle Lynch and Ethan Kerin first met almost two decades ago. Ethan, then a teenager, had recently moved to Síle’s hometown, Aughanteeroe in Ennis, Co. Clare. One day Ethan was unlucky enough to trip over a bar sticking out of the wall, falling in front of three other teenagers from the area – Síle and her friends. Síle’s loud infectious laugh could be heard for miles. It was the start of a love story.

Great Southern Hotel, Killarney, Co. Kerry

Katie Truesdale and Kieran O’Mahony met in Katie’s hometown Dallas, Texas in 2018. Katie was living in Chicago at the time. Kieran, a native of Tralee, was living with a friend who was by chance dating Katie’s best friend. Certain that Kieran and Katie would be a good match, the couple persuaded Katie to return home to Dallas for a weekend with the intention of introducing them to one other. The gamble turned out to be a success.

Dingle Skellig Hotel, Dingle, Co. Kerry

The pair got engaged in 2021 in Keelin’s hometown, Arklow. While they were out walking their dog on a local beach, Darren got down on one knee and produced a ring. Knowing that Keelin loves a good party, he had arranged for family and friends to be waiting with champagne ready upon their return home. 

Castle Oaks Hotel, Castleconnell, Co. Limerick

Freya Carroll and Tommy MacNamara met on Bumble in 2019. They got chatting when Freya (an occupational therapist from Newcastle-upon-Tyne) tapped into good old professional rivalry, asking Tommy (a physiotherapist from Clare) if they were to be ‘best of friends or worst of enemies.’ It piqued his interest. The conversations continued until Tommy invited her on an adventurous first date going 

bouldering together.

The Inn at Dromoland, Co. Clare

While on a windy day walk along the nearby beach, he handed her a bottle filled with sand and in The Inn at Dromoland, Co. Clare.  Highlights of the day for the couple were the fun and craic at shells from around Salthill which he had gathered the week before. In the bottle there was a message 

for Saoirse. And while she read it, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his forever.

Darren very spontaneously asked an unsuspecting Hannah – who was casually chilling barefaced at 

home in a tracksuit – for her hand in marriage! In a sentimental gesture he offered his future wife the ring his beloved grandmother had worn once upon a time, an offer she very happily accepted.

Catherine and Conor Hanley, both 

from Ardagh Co. Limerick, met for the first time in January 2011 through mutual friends. When Catherine called to Dave and Anne Marie’s house Conor was already there, and by all accounts 'it was love at first sight’. In the weeks that followed a night out was arranged and ‘the rest is fantastic history’ say the couple.

Marie and Ben met while attending secondary school in Kenmare and have been going strong ever since. What began as innocent conversations in class soon blossomed into a beautiful long-term relationship. On a weekend away at Adare Manor in early 2020 Ben proposed to his childhood sweetheart and wedding planning was in full swing.  

Castletroy Park Hotel, Co. Limerick

On a wild night out in Nancy Blakes, celebrating Saint Patricks Day in 2013, Lisa and Mark were introduced to one another by Mark’s best friend, and they immediately hit it off. Since then, the couple have bought a house and have loved every second of living together for the last six years. It’s safe to say that their mutual love of soccer and weekend trips away, has made life living together even more blissful.

As a disheartened Aidan had to forgo a trip to Canada his friend Dave dragged him to the infamous Lisdonvarna Matchmaking Festival, the place where the story of Ronan and Aidan begins.

As Spring came to an end in late April 2022, the wedding of Bruna Gavasso and Brendan Ellis signified the beginning of the rest of their lives together. Along with 90 guests they enjoyed a fabulous wedding ceremony in St. Kieran’s Church, Co. Clare, followed by a reception in Kilrush Golf Club.  

Jacks Coastguard Restaurant, Cromane Co. Kerry 

This story begins on the stairs of a hostel in Chaing Mai, Thailand, where two solo travellers really hit it off in a discussion about Thai food. After spending time together travelling, Aoife returned to her home in Kerry and Tom to Manchester, but their relationship continued to develop. After five years of dating and living together in Berlin, Tom asked Aoife to be his forever as they prepared to move to Mexico City.

This love story started 2013 at a college party while the pair were studying at the University of Limerick. They were introduced to one another by a mutual friend, and what started off as friendship turned into a whirlwind romance soon after.  

Listowel Arms, Co. Kerry

On a winters day leading up to Christmas 2022, Kerry natives Sally-Ann Leahy and Thomas Mulvihill said their “I dos” at St. John’s Church in Causeway and together, with their wedding guests celebrated their nuptials at the Listowel Arms Hotel in Co. Kerry.

Cork native Amina Syed and her long-time partner Adil Zaidi, resident of Burton-on-Trent, England married on the May 6, 2022, in The Kingsley Hotel, Co. Cork followed by a reception on May 8 in Kinsale Hotel and Spa, alongside 200 friends and family. The couple, along with their kitten Yuki, now live in Leeds.  

Greenhills Hotel, Limerick 

John O'Regan from Limerick, and Theresa O'Keeffe, a native of Cork, tied the knot on April 8, 2023, in a grand wedding ceremony held at the Greenhills Hotel in Limerick with 120 of their family and friends.  

Great Southern Hotel, Killarney, Co. Kerry

On November 26, 2022, Kerry native Eimear Murphy married Limerick man Shane Bourke in Killarney Cathedral and were accompanied by 190 family and friends. Later in the day they all ventured over to  The Great Southern Hotel where celebrations ran later into the early hours of the morning.  

Falls Hotel and Spa, Ennistymon Co. Clare 

In Our Lady and St. Michaels Church, Ennistymon the wedding of Louise Barnes from Saffron Waldon in the UK and Limerick man Philip Berkery took place on the May 6, 2023 in front of 186 guests, followed by a fabulous reception at the Falls Hotel and Spa in Ennistymon, Co. Clare 

Ballyseede Castle Hotel, Tralee Co. Kerry 

Cork natives Sinead Mc Carthy and Denis Murphy tied the knot at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Killarney, Co. Kerry on November 17, 2022. They were joined by 130 of their nearest and dearest at Ballyseede Castle Hotel in Tralee for their wedding reception.

Niamh Guiry accepted the hand of John Keogh at St. Joseph’s Church in Castleconell Church in Limerick on October 22, 2022 in front of 150 family and friends and later celebrated their special day in style at the Castletroy Park Hotel.  

Radisson Blu Hotel, Limerick

Áine Murphy, from Dungarvan, Waterford and Cork City native Katie Cornally-Somers, invited 110 close family and friends to share their first journey together into married life during an intimate ceremony at the Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa, Limerick on July 22, 2022.

On a hot summer’s day on July 9, 2022, London based Clare couple, Aoife Murtagh and David Hayes, tied the knot in St Michael’s Church, Kildysart, Co. Clare and brought 180 close family and friends back to the Limerick Strand Hotel to celebrate their special day.  

Kenmare Bay Hotel, Kenmare, Co. Kerry 

Templenoe native Melanie Palmer married the love of her life Luke Swayne, a Cork man, on June 3, 2022, in Direendaragh Church and held an incredibly special wedding reception with 200 guests at the stunning Kenmare Bay Hotel in Co. Kerry.  

Fitzgerald's Woodlands House Hotel & Spa, Co. Limerick

Dooradoyle native, Gillian Johnston married Ballysteen man, Jason Downes, on January 14, 2023, at Castletown Church in Pallaskenry and later celebrated their nuptials at the Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel in Adare, Limerick with 130 close family and friends.

Listowel lady Roisin Gornall moved to Vancouver in 2011 and while managing a clothing store in the Canadian City, Newfoundland native Daniel Letto entered the picture.  

Treacy’s Oakwood Hotel, Shannon, Co Clare 

On August 19th, 2022, Limerick natives, Louise Griffin and Conor Brosnahan, tied the knot at St. John’s Cratloe Church, Co. Clare in front of 120 family and friends. They went on to celebrate their special day at Treacy’s Oakwood Hotel in Shannon and they had the best day of their lives.

Longcourt House Hotel, Newcastle West Limerick  

On a glorious winters day in November (5th) this year, Askeaton native Dearbhla Guerin married her Donegal prince charming, Conor McGowan at a beautiful intimate ceremony with 95 close family and friends at St. Colman’s Church, Kilcolman and later that evening celebrated in style at The Longcourt House Hotel, in Newcastle West Limerick.  

Tenuta Fabiana, Caserta, Italy 

Fabrizio D’Angelo and Liam MacKessy professed their I do’s formally in front of 100 close family and friends in Tenuta Fabiana, Caserta, Italy on August 22, 2022 and enjoyed the most amazing few days celebrating their love together.

Emily, a childcare practitioner and David, a software developer, met at a house party in Clonmel in 2013. They had just finished the leaving cert and were both apprehensive about going to a mutual friend’s birthday party at his house, but fate intervened, and they both ended up at the party, not knowing anyone else and after few cute glances were exchanged David, from Kilsheelan, Tipperary made his way over to the table that Cahir native, Emily was sitting at.

School teachers Amanda Kearns and Martin Pierce, both natives of Limerick and currently living in Clarina with their two doggies (Benji and Baloo) got married on August 13, 2022, at St. Munchins Church in Limerick followed by a wonderful wedding reception with 220 family and friends at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Limerick.

Ballyseede Castle Hotel, Co. Kerry  

On September 11, 2021 Christina Murhill and Brendan Hayes got married at Muckross Church in Killarney and moved on to Ballyseede Castle in Tralee, Co. Kerry for their wedding reception with 100 close family and friends.  

Limerick Strand Hotel, Limerick  

On July 14, 2022, Tina O'Dwyer married the love of her life, Daniel Hanley, at Sarsfield Barracks in Limerick and went on to the Limerick Strand Hotel afterwards for their wedding reception.

Charleville Park Hotel, Charleville, Co. Cork

Trini King, from Mitchelstown and Wayne Walsh, from Anglesborough (5 minutes from Mitchelstown) tied the knot on April 8, 2022, at Ballygiblin Church Mitchelstown, followed by a lavish wedding reception at the Charleville Park Hotel in Cork.  

Hotel Doolin, Co. Clare  

On May 20, 2022, Limerick native Mark O’Shaughnessy and Clare man Brian McMahon became Mr and Mr in front of 205 close family and friends at Hotel Doolin in Co. Clare.   

Hotel Woodstock, Ennis, Co. Clare 

On July 1, 2022, Roseanne Casey, from Kilmallock, Limerick and Malcolm Galbraith, from Dunboryne, Co. Meath, became man and wife at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Limerick and celebrated late into the next morning at Hotel Woodstock in Ennis, Co. Clare.  

Aherlow House Hotel, Tipperary 

Tipperary Town natives, Claire Martin and Brian Gallagher tied the knot on October 23, 2021 after two previous attempts during covid. They held their beautiful ceremony at the Church of the Sacred Heart Lisvernane and went on to the picturesque Aherlow House Hotel, steeped in the glen of Aherlow, to celebrate their wedding with 100 guests (numbers were restricted due to covid).  

St. Peter's Cork, Cork City

On May 13, 2022, Lynda Wakefield and Viv Sadd had a bespoke wedding ceremony at 

St. Peter’s Cork, in the city and went on to The River Lee Hotel, five minutes around the corner, to celebrate becoming husband and wife.

Dromquinna Manor, Co. Kerry

Niamh Breen from Kenmare, Co. Kerry met Graham Murphy, Co. Derry while working as a nurse in Abu Dhabi in 2018. The couple still reside there today but it was important to them to come home to Ireland to get married. On April 30, 2022, they said their vows in front of 130 guests at Holy Cross Church, Kenmare and celebrated their nuptials afterwards at Dromquinna Manor in Kenmare.
