On July 14, 2022, Tina O'Dwyer married the love of her life, Daniel Hanley, at Sarsfield Barracks in Limerick and went on to the Limerick Strand Hotel afterwards for their wedding reception.

The Backstory

Tina and Daniel, who are parents to their 3-year-old doggie Alfie, met at a martial arts class over 20 years ago. As the years went by, feelings started to develop between Tina, from Sixmilebridge, Clare and Daniel Hanley, from Mungret, Limerick until finally they became a romantic couple. Six years later and in the height of Covid, Daniel proposed to the love of his life on the couch at home in Clarina and Tina said a big fat “yes.”

The Wedding

In front of 130 family and friends, Tina walked up the aisle of Sarsfield Barracks, in a stunning ivory crepe dress, purchased from Maeve in the Bridal Emporium, Miltown Malbay. It was decorated with lace and sequins on the bodice and lace donned the train, complimented with a butterfly back. Tina’s two-layer overskirt was attached by a sequin belt. They had four bridesmaids and four groomsmen by their side, and they loved every minute of the day. They both recall fondly their first meeting at the top of the aisle and really cherished being alone in their wedding car from the church to King John’s Castle, where photographer Tony Clancy captured some wonderful pictures of the city. “We enjoyed looking over to see our guests enjoying the drinks reception on the balcony of the City View Suite at the Strand Hotel,” recalls Tina.

When photographs were completed, back to the Limerick Strand they went to enjoy their evening reception. They enjoyed salmon or beef as their main course and their first dance was “The one” by Kodaline. In lieu of wedding favours, they donated money to the Irish Red Cross Clare division.

During their meal guests were taken aback by the chef coming out shouting about something, which then turned into a song, which had everyone on their feet singing. Tina and Daniel had hired in The Singing Chef to entertain (and surprise) guests during the meal. “This went down a real treat.”

Tina cautions couples to make sure “you do whatever you want to do, whatever makes you, as a couple happy. Everyone is there to celebrate your love and are so happy to be there with you so do not sweat the small details.”

She also advises to keep the evenings in the lead up to your wedding to yourselves, go on a date a few days before and soak it all in. “Be totally honest with your other half about how you are feeling about everything and let others help.”

Tell us about your experience at the Limerick Strand Hotel?

“Keeley and Aisling were amazing in the lead up to the wedding. No request was ever too small or too big and they were always at the end of an email or the phone if we needed them. Every single detail was exactly the way we had requested, and Keeley knew exactly what we envisioned for our day. The drinks reception and the main room were perfect.  I cannot speak highly enough of how amazing the staff at the Strand were. Justin made sure all timings were upheld and as we moved around the room between courses made sure to check in and give us a 2-minute notice before our food came out.”

How was your experience with Tony Clancy Photography?

Tony Clancy was a dream to work with. He is so professional but is also easy going and a pleasure to talk to. Tony got all the pictures we wanted and more, without any fuss. He gave clear instructions and neither of us felt that we were out of our comfort zone. We really enjoyed getting our photographs taken and we're thankful for the time we got to spend together just the two of us while getting the pictures. He was very happy to work away by himself in the house getting the pictures of all the little details but also did not miss any of the important moments between the bridal party or the groomsmen. He went above and beyond, had everyone laughing all day and was a huge part of our wedding.”
