The now happily married couple first came across each other on Tinder back in 2019, which appears to have been some kind of miracle as they were over 100 km away from one another. Thanks to some serious efforts from Brendan, Brazilian born Bruna eventually agreed to go on a date with him in Salthill, Galway. Their connection was instant and after sharing a bag of chips, they both knew they were on to a good thing.
In St Kieran’s Church, Labasheeda, Co. Clare the bride and groom said their I dos. The ceremony was filled with love, joy and emotion. Brendan, unable to eat anything due to the nerves, took a last minute stab at writing his speech which turned out to be a “terrible idea” according to Brendan. He also misplaced the laces of his shoes and was unable to find them leaving him momentarily shoeless. Eventually the laces were found and all was going well until their dog Snoopy proved to have a significantly larger appetite than Brendan that morning, as he began to help himself to the free range hens in Brendan’s parent’s backyard. With only one of his shoes laced up, he had no choice but to sprint outside in an effort to save the hen. Unfortunately to a pup like Snoopy, he easily mistook Brendan running around after him as playtime and they went for a brisk game of tag in the neighbouring fields until he was caught.
In stark contrast, Bruna was cool as a breeze as she insisted on welcoming friends and family to the house with a cup of coffee, only hopping into her dress twenty minutes before the ceremony began.
The stressful morning endured by Brendan made seeing his soon to be wife walk up the aisle to the instrumental of “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri played by Roisin Ryan and James Murphy, all the more emotional. Similarly Bruna was overcome with emotion upon seeing her soon to be husband in tears at the top of the aisle.
As a lovely surprise, a good friend of the couple, Lucy Joe McHugh had brought an old inside joke between friends to life by organising for an ice cream truck to be waiting outside after the ceremony, and on this fine April morning everyone enjoyed an ice cream in the sun before heading for a surprise drink in Murty Browne’s Bar, where Brendan had worked through his college years.
Kilrush Golf Club was where Bruna and Brendan celebrated with family and friends as newlyweds. They danced their first dance together to “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton.
Later that night photographer Lisa O’Farrell took a moonlight photograph of the newlyweds at last light outside the golf club house on the 18th holed green, as they held one another in their arms. It was a very special moment that they’ll never forget.
