The Meet

Catherine and Conor Hanley, both from Ardagh Co. Limerick, met for the first time in January 2011 through mutual friends. When Catherine called to Dave and Anne Marie’s house Conor was already there, and by all accounts ‘it was love at first sight’. In the weeks that followed a night out was arranged and ‘the rest is fantastic history’ say the couple.

The Engagement

They dated for seven years, and in April 2018 Conor proposed. The Ardagh man announced he wanted to go shopping and for dinner, so the pair headed to the Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick. Catherine was then directed to Fields Jewellers, where, to her surprise, he proposed and had her pick out whatever ring she wanted. Conor’s plan had the desired effect: Catherine was well impressed; she got a ring she absolutely loves and found it ‘very romantic.’

The Wedding

The lovebirds got married on October 6, 2023, in Longcourt House Hotel with forty of their nearest and dearest by their sides. This included bridesmaid Denise Ahern and groom Darren Hanley. They walked up the aisle to Richard Marx’s very romantic “Right Here Waiting” and had their first dance to “Heaven” by Bryan Adams. Catherine stunned in a dress from Virginia’s Bridal. Soft, melodic Irish Harp music (by Fiana Ní Chonaill) was played during the ceremony. Their favourite wedding photo was taken on the bridge over the river Arra that flows through Newcastle West town. Favourite memories of the day include arriving to the hotel in a Rolls Royce, seeing their son Cillian for the first time on their special day, enjoying a lovely meal with family and friends, and for Catherine, walking up the aisle. Their sincere advice to others with an upcoming wedding: “Enjoy every minute of the day because it goes by so fast”. For their honeymoon Catherine and Conor took a trip to Center Parcs in Longford and told Brides of Munster it was ‘amazing’.
