After five years together, Darren organised for them both to go out for dinner (Kerrie was seven months pregnant with Micheál). But before they left Kerrie’s parents’ house Darren popped the ever important questions with the help of their daughter Anna.
After a beautiful wedding ceremony, where Kerrie walked up the aisle to “And I love you so” by Pery Como, the newlyweds went back to the Woodlands House Hotel to kickstart their celebrations. They had expected, due to heavy rainfall that morning, to have their drinks reception indoors but much to their delight sammy sunshine joined them and the wonderful staff at the hotel moved the whole thing into the garden, making it the perfect start to, what was, the best day of their lives. Guests had a choice of beef, salmon or turkey & ham for their main course and everyone enjoyed their meal.
Because government guidelines back in August only allowed outdoor music, Kerrie and Darren took full advantage of this by setting up a two-piece band in the garden outside the ballroom and had music playing via loud speakers. “I don’t think anyone expected there to be music and it really did go down a treat. Thanks to Mícheál Ó Dubhghaill for pulling a blinder on this one.”
Kerrie’s mom, Jacqueline organised the wedding favours; personalised pashminas for all the ladies attending with personalised fans with the date engraved into them. “My parents had been to Cuba the year before and actually brought back Cuban cigars, so I think there was a few of those floating around too,” recalls Kerrie.
Kerrie recalls how difficult trying to plan a wedding during Covid was, but it all worked out. “Between postponement and restrictions on guests it was so stressful. I think we both would advise to just do what makes you happy, there will be so many people who will have heartfelt suggestions about who to invite, when to postpone, the venue etc but we reckon if you just please yourself, at least you know there will be someone happy.”

How was your experience with the Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel?
“Elaina and all the staff at the Woodlands could not have been better. We had so much doubt about having the wedding during the pandemic and they were so helpful and reassuring. Elaina was on hand day or night with advice, ideas and actually had brought so much to our attention that we forgot to think of. The food was incredible, everyone was raving about it. From the minute you arrived you were met with a smile and nothing was too much trouble from them.”
How was your experience with Tony Clancy Photography?
“We had such a laugh with Tony on the day of the wedding and even the chats we had leading up to the wedding. We didn't have to worry about a thing, he was super professional and to be honest the whole day just flowed with him. He had it all planned out in stages and the day just went so smoothly. He was so great at capturing really special memories, particularly of the children at the wedding and the more elderly family members. From the gallery he sent back to us, you would think there were 3 or 4 photographers going around that day, he didn't miss a second!”
