Saoirse, from Clare, first met Kevin, from Donegal, in Dublin in 2019 and after a few years of courtship, Kevin popped the question in Salthill, Co. Galway. Kevin had invited Saoirse on a romantic weekend away around the time of her 30th birthday, after they had run the Dublin City Marathon together.
While on a windy day walk along the nearby beach, he handed her a bottle filled with sand and in The Inn at Dromoland, Co. Clare. Highlights of the day for the couple were the fun and craic at shells from around Salthill which he had gathered the week before. In the bottle there was a message for Saoirse. And while she read it, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his forever.
Their big day was all the couple had hoped for on September 15, 2023. After the ceremony at St. Mary’s Church their wedding reception was held the venue, as well as doing their first dance which they had (wisely!) practiced a lot beforehand. They enjoyed the day so much that they wouldn’t change a thing except to ‘magically make the day have more than 24 hours’. The couple’s mass booklets and signage were created beautifully by McNamara Printers in Shannon.
How was your experience at The Inn at Dromoland?
“Where do we even begin! Pauline, our wedding coordinator and Megan who assisted were absolutely fabulous to deal with from day one. Nothing was a problem and anything we asked for they went above and beyond to do it. The layout, the food, the service of all the staff – we experienced luxury to the point that we felt like king and queen. Gavin and all the floor staff were absolutely brilliant with the guests, serving the older guests at their tables all through the night. As our guests are majority very local some even got lifts home from staff. A real touch of class from every single one of the staff.” theinnatdromoland.ie
