9 Celebrity Wedding Dresses

1.

Kate Middleton became the Duchess of Cambridge when she married Prince William in Westminster Abbey in 2011. She wore a stunning Alexander McQueen customised dress by Sarah Burton. It was white satin and ivory and featured long sleeves and a bodice covered in lace. Her veil was a loan from Queen Elizabeth, who passed away recently. Her dress is timeless and similar styles are still much sought after a decade later.

2.

Nick Jonas married stunner  Priyanka Chopra in December  2018 in India. For the Christian side of their wedding (they also  had a Hindu celebration)

Priyanka wore a customised  gown by Ralph Lauren. The bride stunned in a controlled A-line bottom, with long sleeves and a cost-style high neck with a gazillion pearl sequins, beads and Swarovski crystals. It was accompanied by a 75-foot-long veil

3.

In 2014 Amal Clooney (née Alamuddin) broke with the traditional wedding gown and turned up to marry the love of her life, George Clooney in Venice wearing a super sophisticated white suit, designed by none other than Stella McCartney. It was designed to include a white top with a black

hem, the trousers were semi wide legged, and she paired it all together with a matching hat.

4.

Serena Williams married Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in 2017, in what at the time, was one of the most expensive wedding dresses of all times. At a whopping $3.5 million, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen (the same creator of Kate Middleton’s dress) designed a stunning strapless, belted princess gown with a dramatic cape. We love that she wore runners underneath.

5.

In 2011 model Kate Moss married rocker Jamie Hince in a one-of-a-kind John Galliano customised wedding gown. Kate wanted to incorporate the 20s and 30s era and her vintage inspired dress certainly did this. It was a sheer slip dress with an

embroidered overlay with gold sequins. The skirt had a delicate spread of gold beading, rhinestones and intricate embroidery.

6.

Grace Kelly put wedding ballgowns on the map when she married Rainier III, Prince of Monaco in 1956. Designed by Helen Rose of MGM, Grace’s dress, made of silk taffeta and tulle, was a bodice with an attached under bodice and skirt. It had a high neckline, multiple petticoats and long sleeves. The princess’s dress still inspires brides to this very day.

7.

Kim Kardashian commissioned Givenchy creative director, Riccardo Tisci, to make a long sleeve lace gown in brilliant white for her wedding to rapper Kanye West in 2014. She stunned in a mermaid silhouette tight fitting gown with handmade white lace. Pearl detail climbed all the way up to her high neck but was jazzed up with sheer panels and a backless cut, making it one for the history books and costing approximately half a million dollars.

8.

Singer Ellie Goulding married Caspars Jopling in 2019 donning a Victorian style high neckline column dress with full sleeves down to her wrists. Her dress (this one, she had three more), was a bespoke creation by designer Natacha Ramsay-Lévi. The dress was a tight fighting bodice that swooped in at her waist, transforming outwards as it flowed down to the ground. There were lace embellishments that looked like delicate florals and she wore a long sheer veil covering her face.

9.

Paris Hilton married beau Carter Reum earlier this year in a star-studded ceremony. Although Paris had four bridal outfits, it was her Oscar de la Renta high neck number that appeared on the front of every tabloid that week. The sleeves and bodice were covered in pressed flower thread embroidery, which faded down into a beautiful tulle ballgown skirt. Oscar’s  team also created a veil to match.

Traditionally, bridesmaids have worn the same dress to create a cohesive and uniform look. This practice dates back to ancient times when bridesmaids were tasked with protecting the bride from evil spirits or potential suitors. By dressing identically, it was believed that the bridesmaids could confuse any ill-intentioned individuals and ensure the bride’s safety. Over time, this tradition evolved into a way to symbolise the unity and support of the bridal party. By wearing the same dress, bridesmaids visually demonstrate their commitment to the bride and her special day. It also helps to create a sense of harmony and balance in the overall wedding aesthetic. However, in recent years, there has been a shift towards more individuality and personal expression in weddings. Many brides are now opting for a more modern approach, allowing their bridesmaids to wear different dresses that suit their individual styles and body types. This change reflects a desire to celebrate the unique personalities and preferences of each bridesmaid, while still maintaining a cohesive look. If you’re considering breaking away from the traditional matching bridesmaid dresses, here are some tips on how to do it:
