Bridal Looks That Never Date

Bridal Looks That Never Date - By Ann Cronin

A look at some of the most common beauty looks adopted by brides to give you some wedding day make-up inspo.

The Natural Look

For years most brides have opted for a make-up look which simply enhances their features in a subtle way. A natural base with bronzed tones on the lids to add definition and a nude lip achieves this perfectly. You can still add health and dimension to your visage with bronzer and blush, but usually, for this look, such enhancements are applied with a light hand.

Pop of Colour

For added vibrancy, opting more colours in your eye-look is the best way of achieving this. For blue eyed ladies and pale complexions, pinks are the ultimate pairing. Opt for some blush or dust pink eye shading combined with a similar toned blush and light glossy lip for a healthy look. Darker eyes and warmer skin tones suit earth or warm tones such as browns, oranges, golds and greens so dare a build a flattering smoky eye with these shades.

The Classic Red Lip

The red lip is a dramatic flair that has been availed of by brides for years. You’d be wrong in believing that opting for the red lippy means you have to be less harsh on the eyes. If your usual glam look consists of darker eyes paired with this number then go for it! Red lips also work well with a more natural bronzed eye look, making it a very versatile statement to work with.

Dark and Dramatic

There’s no rule that says brides can’t opt for a more fierce beauty look on their special day. If a dark smoky eye look or a deep purple lip is your most comfortable look, then avail of that. Full-lined and darker smoky eyes pair well with a nude lip, but this should be a look you trial several times in advance of your day so you’re sure that it is all you hoped it would be.

Top Tip

Attend several make-up trials prior the big day to ensure you’re happy with your look on the day.

- Seek advice from your make-up artist and listen to their input.

- Carry a touch up kit with you on the day, filled with essentials such as powder, lippy and anything else you think may come in useful.

- If the night before your wedding day is a restless one, tired eyes can be opened up with a white eyeliner in your water line and inner corner.

Traditionally, bridesmaids have worn the same dress to create a cohesive and uniform look. This practice dates back to ancient times when bridesmaids were tasked with protecting the bride from evil spirits or potential suitors. By dressing identically, it was believed that the bridesmaids could confuse any ill-intentioned individuals and ensure the bride’s safety. Over time, this tradition evolved into a way to symbolise the unity and support of the bridal party. By wearing the same dress, bridesmaids visually demonstrate their commitment to the bride and her special day. It also helps to create a sense of harmony and balance in the overall wedding aesthetic. However, in recent years, there has been a shift towards more individuality and personal expression in weddings. Many brides are now opting for a more modern approach, allowing their bridesmaids to wear different dresses that suit their individual styles and body types. This change reflects a desire to celebrate the unique personalities and preferences of each bridesmaid, while still maintaining a cohesive look. If you’re considering breaking away from the traditional matching bridesmaid dresses, here are some tips on how to do it:
