How to Make Your Wedding Modern

We all love a bit of tradition when it comes to planning our wedding but we also love to keep up to

date with what's trendy and how we can introduce some snazzy bits into the big day! Whether it’s to

do with the venue or the actual ceremony there are numerous ways to spice things up with something

a little more modern. Here are some of the ideas we put together to help you achieve just that!

Break Tradition

Step away from tradition and have your wedding reception even more

something different rather than a flower girl. Grandparents and pets are becoming more popular when coming down the aisle before the bride. This can be a very cute idea and a very sentimental moment for the couple getting married. Or why not have the flower girl blowing bubbles up the aisle, something a little different also means something special. Why not change it up a little more and have a mixed gender bridal or groomsmen party.

Flowers

Flowers play a huge role in most weddings and have for many years, but in more modern times they are taking a little more of the limelight and extravagant floral centre pieces are becoming very popular. Talk about flower power, and add a flower wall or a floral ceiling hanging, achieve the wedding venue of your dreams and let your imagination run wild with what you can do with flowers. Check out local florists to find the perfect arrangements to suit you.

Take a bite out of modern times

It’s a great idea to make your wedding more about food and introduce some more tasty treats as there are so many opportunities to do so. Keep guests happy and offer some yummy hors d’oeuvres while waiting to go into the reception. Why not offer a glass of something bubbly to get guests excited for your grand entrance.

Speech Up

Allow members of the top table who wish to say a few words do so as it will make your wedding reception even more sentimental and more than likely add a bit more humorous entertainment. Some people have even had poems said or songs sang instead of a speech, getting the best man to play a video instead of a speech has also made more of appearance in recent times, these are a great idea and normally hilarious!

Traditionally, bridesmaids have worn the same dress to create a cohesive and uniform look. This practice dates back to ancient times when bridesmaids were tasked with protecting the bride from evil spirits or potential suitors. By dressing identically, it was believed that the bridesmaids could confuse any ill-intentioned individuals and ensure the bride’s safety. Over time, this tradition evolved into a way to symbolise the unity and support of the bridal party. By wearing the same dress, bridesmaids visually demonstrate their commitment to the bride and her special day. It also helps to create a sense of harmony and balance in the overall wedding aesthetic. However, in recent years, there has been a shift towards more individuality and personal expression in weddings. Many brides are now opting for a more modern approach, allowing their bridesmaids to wear different dresses that suit their individual styles and body types. This change reflects a desire to celebrate the unique personalities and preferences of each bridesmaid, while still maintaining a cohesive look. If you’re considering breaking away from the traditional matching bridesmaid dresses, here are some tips on how to do it:
